About Salesforce
Global CRM leader powering 150,000+ customers with AI and data-driven insights
Salesforce builds leading customer relationship management software, uniting AI, data, and Customer 360 apps on a single platform. With over 70,000 employees and more than 150,000 customers worldwide, Salesforce empowers companies with deep insights across the entire customer journey.
The Challenge
AWS Glacier buried assets with slow, costly retrieval
To support its own marketing campaigns, Salesforce generated an immense volume of creative files. The team had turned to AWS Glacier for cold storage, with Iconik layered on top for tagging and search. But in practice, this setup only slowed them down.
Archived content in Glacier was effectively “archived and gone.” Retrieval was costly and slow, with egress fees making it impractical to bring footage back into circulation. Even with Iconik’s management layer, editors spent more time wrestling with storage limitations than creating. As a result, valuable material sat locked away, while production teams were forced to start fresh.
Learn why top agencies, global brands, and high-growth enterprises use Shade.
Introduction to Shade
Shade Vault turned archives into a living, searchable library
Shade replaced this fragmented system with a unified hub designed for creative scale. Editors could automatically tag assets across a wide range of metadata, share and review files seamlessly, and search across projects with AI-driven accuracy.
Instead of static cold storage, Shade Vault drives became a continuous source of truth—a living archive where files stay discoverable, reusable, and ready to share. If a file needs to move from Vault back into active storage, it comes at no extra cost, eliminating the punishing economics of their previous Glacier system.
The New Workflow
Projects end in Vault drives, where AI automatically catalogs assets for future reuse
Once a project concludes, Salesforce effortlessly moves all associated files into a Shade Vault drive. AI agents instantly catalog and tag everything, creating a searchable library instead of a deep freeze. Teams can build collections for events, conferences, and campaigns, and when inspiration strikes, reuse footage without friction.
Every asset—past or present—lives in one system that supports collaboration, annotation, and secure sharing. What was once locked behind Glacier is now a flexible foundation for creative work. Even better, Shade Vault links seamlessly with Shade’s active storage, preserving metadata continuity so teams can repurpose files instantly without extra steps or costs.
Present Outcome
Salesforce boosted production by 38% and reuse by 43%, turning archives into advantage
Since adopting Shade, Salesforce has unlocked more than four years of archived footage. Content production has increased by 38%, while reuse of past assets has risen 43% across campaigns, events, and internal communications.
With Shade Vault, Salesforce transformed archives from a costly dead end into a creative advantage—making every file instantly discoverable, reusable, and impactful.
