Automations: Run the actions you’d normally need the API for inside Shade — including webhooks in and out so external tools can participate. Examples: email a share link when files land in a folder, create a collection when you receive a webhook, notify an external system when a proxy finishes, add assets to a collection when status changes to “in review.” Calculation blocks, templated conditionals (Filter / If-Else / Switch), and a much tighter automations UI ship with this.

Custom Objects: Tables for anything (clients, teams, tasks) in Shade that can be linked to your assets — with a redesigned record table, detail panel autosave, pagination, bulk value updates, and relation hover previews.

MCP server: Query and edit almost anything in Shade from the LLM of your choice.

RAW support: BRAW (Blackmagic) and R3D (RED) for previews and proxies; EXR previews overhauled for consistency and accuracy.

Link sharing templates: View type, card size, password protection, expiration, and max view count — applied automatically on quick links. Custom link options can be disabled when you want templates only.

Usage page redesign: Storage, Seats, and Guests cards with segmented progress bars, per-drive breakdowns, storage warnings, and deep links into billing.

Billing: set a billing email plus multiple invoice recipient emails from workspace settings. Snapshots: browsing is a rolling 30-day window (longer windows are enterprise / custom pricing). Avid comment export. Pause and resume downloads in the desktop app. PDF comparison: swipe comparison works for PDFs.

Copy metadata from assets; download custom thumbnails; copy/paste comments between assets. Bugfixes and polish: share-link edge cases, search in column view, collection attachment permissions, player mark in/out and one-frame stepping, invite/seat purchase crashes, and general UI cleanup across objects and automations.

ShadeFS

More reliable transfers on desktop. Cache-root / unmount modal fixes and clearer pinning feedback when the cache location changes. Stability improvements around mount and cache behavior.

Platform

Scrubbable previews: Hover over video thumbnails in grid view to scrub through the clip without opening the player — a faster way to find the right take before you click in.

Automations: manually run an automation from the right-click menu, plus a clearer empty state when nothing is set up yet to run. Directory sync: enterprise directory sync now maps roles into Shade more reliably. Comment count is available as metadata on assets.

Open in default app is easier to find when a drive is mounted. Pinned items can be sorted and filtered by size. Usage / Manage Storage: clearer per-storage capacity badges and polish on the usage page.

MCP: /mcp is the canonical endpoint, with clearer connection instructions for ChatGPT and Codex. Faster watermarking on long videos. Shared links: fixed folder URL encoding and parentheses breaking share links.

More reliable open-in-default-app behavior when mounts update. General upload and mount reliability improvements.

Platform

Version comparison overhaul: Comparison timeline, settings, and review tools are substantially improved — closer parity with the main player for stacking and reviewing takes.

Onboarding redesign: New workspace setup flow with clearer steps, drive creation as its own step, and better progress tracking.

Video captions: Burn-in style captions from transcripts in the player. Editable transcripts: Correct utterances in-place, with export improvements and dictionary / spellcheck support in the desktop app. Resolve EDL comment export: CMX3600 EDL export of comments for DaVinci Resolve.

Automations: new triggers for “asset downloaded” and “individual recognized,” plus the ability to delete automations that have already run. New folder with selection: create a folder from the current selection in one step. Viewer background color picker (including white) for reviewing footage. Loop playback in the player.

Billing / storage: self-serve storage limits and buy-more-storage flows are clearer, with pending plan-change badges. Incomplete uploads are now obvious in list view instead of looking like finished files. Download thumbnails for images/videos (including multi-select, zipped in the browser). Desktop app download CTA from the web app.

Embeds: footer no longer covers content or blocks clicks. Much faster BRAW proxy generation. MCP: stronger support for custom object records, views, and automations. Lots of UI and player polish (compare annotations, column-view upload, search results, notifications).

Download path improvements (including more reliable large downloads). Proxy and indexing throughput improvements under load.

Platform

LUT preview: Drop a .cube LUT onto the video player for a session-only color preview (up to 16MB) — useful for checking looks without baking anything in.

Continue playback when navigating to the next asset so review sessions don’t stop between clips. Web Mobile Experience Upgrades: dedicated notifications page, asset details stacked under the viewer, and a tighter compact player (loop, captions, transcript, and LUT live in settings).

Scrubbable previews: scroll wheel and arrow keys to scrub when hover previews are available. Metadata fields: Copy ID from the drive metadata field menu. Billing: fixed invoices not displaying properly; simpler cancel-subscription flow.

Faster folder navigation with fewer redundant reloads. Fixed multi-select with Control-click on macOS in list view. Compare view annotation fixes when stacking 3+ assets; Resolve EDL marker note fixes for replies.

Download queue: clearer failed counts and a way to clear finished jobs. Sharing / groups authorization edge cases cleaned up.

• Folders can now be copied and pasted, including between drives in the same region

New uploader experience

• The new uploader is substantially faster for lots of smaller files and vastly more stable on slow internets. It maintains the ability to saturate high bandwidth connections.

• Fixed an issue that made the desktop app occasionally require the deletion of an empty mounted drive folder when mounting

• Platform storage calculations should no longer lag behind actual storage

  • Depending on some user’s sharing setups, contractors could see unexpectedly few items due to a least inheritance policy which has now been changed

• The windows app will now throw an error on mount if there are files in mount’s C:\\Volumes\\<mount name> directory

• If the cache location is set to a non APFS drive on macos or a non NTFS drive on windows, a warning dialogue will now appear
