Search & Sharing Redesign
We've completely rebuilt our search engine to deliver faster and more accurate results for drives of all sizes. Our public links and sharing system has received a comprehensive redesign with new capabilities.
New sharing features:
Create multiple links with separate permissions per asset or folder
Configurable link expiration (custom, tomorrow, end of week, etc.)
Temporarily disable links without deleting them
Delete specific links
Numerous fixes for public link stability and functionality
Performance & Connectivity
The desktop downloader has been completely rewritten to eliminate stalling on slow networks and aggressively saturate bandwidth on fast connections. A new network connection quality indicator is now displayed in the desktop app so you can understand your connectivity at a glance.
Infrastructure enhancements:
Transcription search functionality added for finding content within transcripts
File size filter improved and fixed
SCIM directory sync added for permissions at scale across organizations
Drive templates introduced for managing custom metadata attributes
Facial recognition now runs significantly faster
Video player crash issues resolved
Regional Expansion
Sydney storage region has been added and is currently in testing phase. We're also testing a backend for global teams that enables remote editing workflows—please report any performance issues you encounter.
ShadeFS Improvements
Drive mounting is now dramatically faster. While not yet instant, large drives mount substantially more quickly. Our ShadeFS downloader is even faster—benchmarks show slightly faster speeds compared to competing solutions. Final Cut Pro can now link against videos stored outside the library, enabling flexible media organization. We've made faster merging of local and remote changes, added chunk cleanup support for bring-your-own R2 backends, and improved process cleanup on quit for better system resource management. Early access .deb and .rpm builds are now available for ShadeFS desktop on Linux.
