Faith-Based Media Producing Weekly Live Content

Company Situation

The company operates within media production, focusing on faith-driven content creation including weekly live shows, interview reels, and short documentary-style films. Their team is small and geographically close-knit, with core editing currently handled by a primary editor and collaboration primarily between two close colleagues.

Existing Workflow

The company produces a weekly hour-long show recorded via Zoom, utilizing multiple camera feeds and screen shares. Editing is done in Adobe Premiere Pro, where the editor synchronizes multiple video sources and audio tracks into a multi-cam timeline. For collaboration, project files (which are relatively small) are synchronized via Adobe Teams cloud storage, but the actual video assets remain local on physical storage devices—a large QNAP NAS and laptop drives. Additional content like campus interviews generates dozens of hours of footage, which volunteers or remote collaborators currently access by downloading large files. Reels and response videos are also created, often by international collaborators who manually download footage. Short films are edited scene-by-scene in Adobe Premiere with project files exchanged manually.

Issues with the Existing Workflow

Reliance on physical proximity for final polishing and collaboration due to large file sizes and local storage of video assets. Time-consuming and bandwidth-heavy transfer of large raw video files to remote collaborators, resulting in inefficiencies and delays. Fragmented asset management, requiring manual syncing of project files and media folders, which can be error-prone. Limited ability to quickly create and collaborate on short-form content like reels and response videos with external volunteers or partners. Current cloud synchronization only applies to project files, not to the full media library, limiting true remote collaboration.

How Shade Would Change Their Workflow

Shade’s cloud-native platform would centralize all video assets and project files in an accessible online environment, enabling seamless collaboration regardless of physical location. Remote editors and volunteers could browse, comment, and create cuts directly in the cloud without downloading large files. The platform’s collaborative editing tools and robust asset management would streamline workflows for the weekly show, campus interviews, reels, and films alike. This would eliminate the need for manual file transfers, reduce turnaround times, and enable the company to expand their editing team globally while maintaining tight control and versioning.
