About Small Hour Films

Small Hour Films was established in 2013 by creatives fresh out of film school. The “small hours” of the night is the time between midnight and sunrise— the time when all of the world is sleeping but we are up innovating and creating. It began as a little joke between film school buddies who could never find enough time to sleep and were working day jobs while also trying to get a degree in playing make believe. Now our career is thinking up an idea and then spending all of our time figuring out how to make it. There’s nothing more satisfying than building something from scratch, from a concept floating around in the air to something tangible that you can see and feel. We are a Hawaii based media company with a background in narrative and documentary filmmaking. From brand videos and interviews to live events, short films and non-profit collaboration, our goal since the beginning has always been to challenge ourselves creatively and to tell stories that are meaningful and that make a difference.
