The Record Co. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Boston, dedicated to ensuring that no matter who you are, you have a place to make your music. Founded in 2010, The Record Co. acts as the engine of Boston's creative economy by building and protecting the physical spaces, educational pathways, and professional resources necessary for independent music to thrive. Operating out of two facilities at 960 Mass Ave and 55 Morrissey Blvd, the organization serves over 3,000 artists monthly and provides 108 creative workspaces. They offer highly subsidized, world-class recording and rehearsal spaces, lowering the barrier to entry so diverse voices are never priced out of their own city. Their spaces include 20 hourly recording studios, 4 hourly rehearsal rooms, and 88 monthly workspaces, all featuring professional gear. In addition to physical space, The Record Co. provides education and mentorship through the TRC Academy, which serves 150 students annually, and supports small business incubation. By offering these resources at accessible rates, they allow artists to invest their capital into marketing, touring, and living, rather than just renting gear.
