Data and Services Definition
"Data" is any file, asset, or piece of data provided or generated by customers when directly using https://shade.inc (our "Site"), or our desktop application ("Desktop"), or our API ("API") collectively called ("Services").
Data Usage Policies
All data is opted out and not used for any model training and for any purposes related to improving our models or enhancing Shade's offerings. All customer data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption and in transit using TLS protocols to ensure the highest level of data protection. Access to customer data is strictly controlled through role-based access controls and multi-factor authentication requirements.
Opting in to share your data helps improve our models for you. Your data undergoes a sanitization process before storage. Before being fed into any training models, our team removes common sources of personal information through a rigorous cleansing process. Customer data is logically segregated, and access is restricted to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis.
Shade reserves the right to provide opportunities for users to explicitly and expressively opt-in for model training via our "Services". Workspace administrators maintain full control over their data and can configure access permissions at the file, folder, drive, and workspace levels. External sharing is disabled by default and must be explicitly enabled by workspace administrators.

Please review our Privacy Policy for more information on how we handle the personal information we collect and process via our website. We do not process personal information through our Playground and/or API and we strongly recommend that our customers do not upload any personal information when using our services. Our systems are continuously monitored for unauthorized access attempts and security threats. In the event of a security incident affecting customer data, we will promptly investigate and communicate with affected customers.

Do you use my data to train AI models?
All customers are by default opted out of training. Your data is safe and securely encrypted at rest. We have proper SOC2 controls regarding storage and processing to ensure employees and counterparts do not have access to your data. We maintain comprehensive logging and monitoring systems, and any deleted items are retained in trash for 30 days before permanent deletion.
Where are your services located?
All of our services are hosted in the United States. We only train and host our models in the United States. We maintain SOC 2 compliance for security, availability, and confidentiality, and undergo regular third-party security assessments to validate our security controls.
